We’re looking for a Hardware Quality Engineer who’s curious, hands-on, and passionate about making hardware work reliably in real-world conditions.

You enjoy testing devices, digging into how they behave, and figuring out why things don’t work as expected. You’re comfortable working with configurations, analysing device behaviour, and turning findings into clear improvements. You take ownership of quality and proactively look for ways to improve testing processes, documentation, and overall device reliability.

You’re structured in your work, but flexible in solving problems. You’re not afraid to go deep into technical details, while still keeping the bigger product picture in mind.

As Mapon continues to expand its use of camera and telematics hardware across multiple vendors and device types, ensuring consistent hardware quality becomes a key part of building reliable, scalable products. We’re building a strong, proactive approach to hardware validation — ensuring devices are well understood, thoroughly tested, and ready to perform in real-world conditions before they reach customers.

You’ll be part of the Product team — working closely with Product Managers and engineers to ensure hardware devices are well understood, properly tested, and ready for real customer use.

🕹️What you’ll work on

• Own hardware quality end-to-end: You’ll take ownership of how hardware behaves in our product — from first testing to real-world usage. Your work will directly impact product reliability and customer experience.
• Test and validate cameras and telematics hardware: You’ll work hands-on with cameras, telematics devices, and accessories — testing them across different configurations, scenarios, and environments before they reach customers.
• Make hardware predictable and reliable: You’ll define how devices should behave, validate feature performance, and ensure configurations work consistently across use cases.

• Improve and scale hardware testing: You’ll build and improve testing processes and workflows, including introducing automation where it makes sense. Your work will make testing more scalable and reliable.
• Work on real product features: You’ll collaborate with Product Managers and engineers to validate hardware-dependent features (e.g. video recording, events, configurations) before and after release — helping teams to remove uncertainty around device behaviour.
• Shape hardware decisions: You’ll benchmark devices, test alternatives, and provide insights influencing which hardware we choose and how we use it.
• Collaborate across teams and partners: You’ll work with hardware vendors, partners, and internal teams — helping resolve issues, improve devices, and ensure smooth integrations.
• Create clarity through documentation: You’ll document device behaviour, configurations, best practices, and limitations — helping product, support, and operations teams work more efficiently.

🎯What you bring

• Proven experience in hardware testing, device validation, or technical QA (e.g. cameras, telematics devices, or similar hardware)
• Hands-on experience with device configuration, setup, and troubleshooting
• Ability to analyse device behaviour, logs, and system interactions to identify root causes of issues
• Understanding of how hardware, firmware, and platform features interact
• Strong communication and collaboration skills — able to explain complex technical topics in a simple way and work effectively across teams
• Ability to translate technical findings into clear impact — what’s happening, why it matters, and what should be done next
• Proactive mindset with strong ownership and initiative — you don’t wait for tasks, you identify problems and improvements, own the quality and outcome
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
• Product-oriented thinking — you care about how things work for real users, not just passing tests
• Commitment to continuous learning and improvement, including using tools (e.g. AI) to work more efficiently while maintaining quality
• Good written and spoken English

Nice to have:

• Experience working with dashcams, AI cameras, or telematics devices
• Familiarity with vehicle-related data or integrations (e.g. CAN, OBD-II)
• Experience working with multi-device setups or integrations (e.g. camera + telematics device)
• Experience with firmware testing and validation
• Experience with test automation 
• Experience working with third-party hardware vendors or partners
