How to Start Fleet Tracking with Mapon

Traditional GPS tracking devices require a power source, such as a car battery. If you are interested in monitoring an asset that doesn’t provide power, you can do it with our Bluetooth low-energy (BLE) trackers. They have a long-lasting battery and can be attached to almost anything, from waste containers to construction tools. Your Mapon client project manager will help you find the best device for your case. We can then send it to you for self-installation, or you can schedule a technician’s visit. A BLE tracker works by sending Bluetooth signal to a GPS tracking device (which then sends location data to the Mapon platform), so you’ll need to make sure there’s a compatible telematics device nearby.

Many tracking devices support data collection from the vehicle’s on-board computer, which includes fuel. However, for more accurate and advanced insights, we suggest installing fuel sensors. All fuel-related data are available on the Mapon platform as part of the Pro plan.

Mapon offers starter-level dash cams that you can install on your own (or with the help of our technicians), and they don’t require any extra hardware. However, if you’re interested in multiple cameras for one vehicle, you’ll need a separate DVR unit that Mapon technicians can install and activate. The fleet camera solution is a paid add-on, and is separate from all subscription plans.

Driver behaviour analysis calculates a score for every driver based on driving parameters, such as harsh braking or speeding. You’ll need a device that can detect these events – our client consultants can help you choose the right one. The solution itself is included in the Mapon platform’s Pro plan.
